Fully agree with everything you say Mauricio. We could not have chosen a better team of co-founders. We had in you the best CMO of any onlne travel company. Your technical expertise, and your ability to motivate and lead large teams where key in our success. And you are right to point to a very large group of people who were all key in our history. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every former eDreams team members and investor. Those in your list, and then some, including in particular our very first angel and VC investors, trusted advisors and board members, including Pedro de Esteban, Michelle Appendino, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Michael Chalfen, Nicolas Bonilla, Gerry Montanus, David Chao
So nice to read about those early years. As a former DreamGuide manager of the first hour I can only say that I owe so much to the 3 founders. Because of them I got my feet on the ground in Barcelona, starting my professional career in tourism and hospitality business. Over 20 years later I still am in touch with some of those I shared the office with at the World Trade Center.
Thank you for this inspiring article. It's incredibly valuable to learn from pivots and the reasons behind them, rather than only sharing success stories filled with rainbows and butterflies.
Oh how I remember the first day. Chaos reigned supreme. Vertical (investors and team members and even a few vendors), Horizontal (the Spanish vs the Italians)! The need to just focus on something rather than a democracy. The team learned quickly and despite many missteps - succeeded in achieving something very real. You got there in the end. This is a good learning that many could profit from. One clear eyed element in this post is that one size does not fit all.
A brilliant view of the challenges being unconventional and going against the prevailing wisdom. The courage of entrepreneurship sets successful people apart.
